Prerequisites
- Connectivity to all SAP systems participating in the refresh, with required authorizations.
- SAP process server connected to an SAP application and/or message server of both source and target SAP systems.
- All objects for SAP systems, process servers, and queues have to be created in the partition of the System Copy module.
Supported Central Redwood Server Server Platforms
Redwood Platform (recommended by Redwood)
See the Installation section for system requirements of the central Redwood Server server.
Supported SAP Central Instance Application Server Platforms
- IBM AIX
- Oracle Solaris
- HP-UX
- Linux
- Windows
Required shells:
- UNIX/Linux - bash or ksh version ksh93 or later
- If you have both ksh88 and ksh93 versions on your system, use the
LocalInterpreter_KSH
process server parameter to specify the full path to the ksh93 executable.
- If you have both ksh88 and ksh93 versions on your system, use the
- Windows - PowerShell version 2.0 or higher
Supported SAP Databases & Operating System Combinations
- MS SQL
- UNIX/Linux: not supported
- Windows: JDBC
- Oracle
- UNIX/Linux: native or JDBC
- Windows: JDBC
- IBM DB2
- UNIX/Linux: native or JDBC
- Windows: JDBC
- zOS: JDBC
- MaxDB/SAPDB
- UNIX/Linux: JDBC
- Windows: JDBC
SAP Releases
- SAP release 7.10 or higher
Optionally, Redwood transport files may be installed in the target SAP system:
- XBP transport files (strongly recommended)
- SCP transport files
For more details regarding the Redwood transport files see Redwood Transport Files.
note
The current implementation allows a refresh of an existing fully configured target SAP system from an existing fully configured source system, which is not the same as a clone of a source SAP system to a new target SAP system. Cloning an SAP system can be achieved too, but would require additional implementation effort.
The required and optional authorizations are listed in the Reference.
Platform Agent Prerequisites
- Agents must be installed on SAP Central Instance (CI server) on both source and target SAP systems. The platform agent needs to be able to switch the user to become SAP administrator.
- Agents must be installed on SAP DB hosts on both source and target SAP systems (if different from the CI server). The platform agent needs to be able to switch the user to become DB administrator and SAP administrator.
- OS user (
SCP_USER
) must exist. At least 50Gb of disk space is required on each platform agent participating in the refresh. - Additional Data Export directory with at least 100Gb free disk space.
TCP/IP Connectivity
- Ports
32<SN>
,33<SN>
, and36<SN>
of the SAP Application Servers host platform agents must be accessible from the central Redwood Server server.<SN>
is the SAP System Number orSYSNR
, for example00
. - Central Redwood Server server ports (Redwood Platform:
10180
and10185
(defaults) must be accessible from clients (web browsers). - Platform agent ports (
1555
by default) must be accessible from the central Redwood Server server. These ports are also useful for administrators to access status information of the platform agent directly, from their browsers.
