Creating Process Monitors
Process Monitors allow you to give users a general idea of how far a process has run without the confusing detail for non-technical staff. You create a process monitor and link processes or Chain processes to it, this allows you to hide whatever you consider too technical detail from non-technical staff, it also allows non-technical staff to monitor processes from Report2Web in a simple interface which reduces training to a minimum.
When a process that is linked to a monitor completes, the process monitor is updated with the status. Process monitors can have child process monitors, which allows you to create a hierarchy; this is especially useful for financial close processes, where you would typically have a process monitor for the entire close process and individual ones for the steps, for example, one for AP accounting, another for GL accounting and financial control.
Process Monitors are initiated with an instance name, which allows you to reuse them. When you link processes to a process monitor, you specify an expression for an instance name; only processes linked to both process monitor and instance name are linked.
