Values for Creating a Process Server

The following tables illustrate the options available on the tabs of the process server editor.

Process Server Tab

Field NameDescription
NameThe name of the process server.
Default Time ZoneThe time zone to use on this process server.
ApplicationThe name of the application used to group this object.
DescriptionThe description of the process server.
Start On StartupStarts this process server when Redwood Server is started
Monitor on DashboardMonitor the process server on the monitoring dashboard

Documentation Tab

Field NameDescription
DocumentationA comment about the process server.

Parameters Tab

For an extensive list of parameters, refer to the process server parameters section.

Field NameDescription
NameThe process server parameter name.
Default ValueThe default value of the process server parameter; for reference only.
ValueThe process server parameter value.

In the lower detail pane of a process server, parameters can have different values for every type.

TypeDescription
CurrentThe current value that is being used by the running process server.
DesiredThe value that is used the next time that the process server is started.
LastWorkingThe previous value that was used by the process server.

Services Tab

  • Service - The service that the process server supports.
  • Desired Status - The status of the service: Running, ShutdownNormal, ShutdownImmediate, or ShutdownAbort.
note

When you create or edit a process server, the required services are added automatically to the process server based on the definition types or the SAP interfaces you configured, so there is no need to change services on a process server. The only exception is for process servers that are used for file events exclusively, there you do not need to specify a definition type, however, the PlatformAgentService has to be added manually.

Queues Tab

FieldDescription
QueueThe queue name.
HeldIs this queue closed? (Y or N)
Execution SizeThe number of concurrent chains in the queue.
InclusiveIf set to true, the queue size includes waiting chains.
Hold LevelChains below this priority level do not start.
Time WindowThe time window during which the queue releases the chains.
Time ZoneThe time zone to use when the time window is used (and it has no time zone).

Resources

  • Resource - The resource the process server can provide.

Load Factors

FieldDescription
Load ThresholdThe maximum threshold of all load factor products combined; once this is reached, the process server goes to status Overloaded and accepts no more processes until the combined load factor products decrease below Load Threshold.
Execution SizeThe maximum number of concurrent processes that the process server will execute.
ValueThe value of the currently highlighted field in the below table
DescriptionA description of the load factor
MultiplierA value by which the Monitor Value is multiplied before being compared to the Threshold and Load Threshold.
ThresholdThe threshold for the load factor; when this is reached, the process server goes to status Overloaded and accepts no more processes until the product decreases below Threshold.
Monitor ValueThe monitor value to be multiplied with the Multiplier

Definition Types

  • Definition Type - The type of workload that the process server can run.
